The Northwoods A-Frame emerges from a woodsy setting off a remote two lane highway in Northern Minnesota. Peaking through the trees, the classic A-Frame shape and modern aesthetic of this cabin immediately capture your attention. The design is both a blend and a contrast to the 40 acres of woodland that blanket the surrounding property.
Once inside the cabin, guests are greeted by beautiful design throughout the three levels. Entering through the main hallway, it’s hard for your eyes not to gravitate towards the apex of the A-Frame and the view provided by the floor to ceiling windows. This nature inspired view only gets better as you ascend the stairs into the loft. Modern, high end touches including countertops, appliances, and light fixtures, give the cabin a comfortable feel while offering functionality.
The hosts discovered this property in the winter of 2021, with construction of the cabin beginning in the months to follow. Located just 10 minutes from Itasca State Park, it wasn’t hard for the soon to be property owners to know that this was their desired piece of land. Itasca State Park features 32,000 acres and is home to the Mississippi River Headwaters.
Not only does the A-Frame’s 40 acre plot of land feature the main cabin, guests can also stay at the two tucked away Tiny Cabins. Guests of the Tiny Cabins also have access to “The Local” and “The Bathhouse”, which is a standalone structure that provides a shared kitchen space and private washrooms. All guests are able to take advantage of additional recreational activities that are housed in a fourth physical structure creatively named “The Shed”.
During our stay, Mollie and I enjoyed the ambiance provided by the wood burning fireplace. Our mornings began with a hot cup of coffee, followed by daily trips to Itasca State Park. During the afternoon hours, we immersed ourselves in the serenity provided by walking the trails found throughout the property. Each night, we’d recap the day while cooking dinner, followed by reading by the warmth of the fire.
