The Bird House is situated in Kettle Moraine State Forest near Cascade, Wisconsin. Walking around the perimeter of this modern cabin, it doesn’t take guests long to identify how this structure received its creative name. Perched high near the roofline, a circular window looks out over the backyard. It’s as if the window is the entrance to a birdhouse.
The cabin is surrounded by woods and native prairie, providing the perfect amount of privacy. The five-acre property is a nature lover’s dream. In the backyard, a gentle winding path flows from the patio to a tastefully designed gravel fire pit. This is just one of the places where guests can capture a sense of tranquility.
Matching the theme of the exterior, the interior of the Bird House features modern design accompanied by original touches, including locally sourced red oak flooring, custom cabinets, and a variety of hand selected antique furniture. All of these elements add the appropriate dose of character with a homey, nostalgic feel.
The Bird House comes equipped with accommodating amenities that provide both comfort and functionality. The four-person sauna features a glass face that provides guests with a view into the backyard meadow. The cabin features an HD projection screen that allows guests to stream their favorite shows and movies, while enjoying the ambiance of the indoor fireplace.
Just minutes up the road, guests have access to the well known Ice Age National Scenic Trail. The 1,200 mile trail traces the edge of a glacier that existed 15,000 years ago. The typical hike time of this trail is 7-12 weeks, with the record being 21 days.
Throughout the build and decorating process, the owners of the Bird House aspired to build a modern cabin that was both cozy and inviting. With ample options, guests can choose to be as relaxed or active as desired. Days can feature a variety of recreational pursuits paired with time of solitude.
